Green Mountain Builders has been constructing fine custom homes on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau since 2002. In that time, we've built strong alliances with talented subcontractors and local craftsmen and developed lasting relationships with clients.
In addition to his degree in Natural Resources Management and his affiliation with the local Home Builders Associations, Steve is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, WNC Green Building Council and is on the Town of Highlands Planning Board.
It is this education, commitment to Highlands -Cashiers environment, and on going training that brings an increased level of knowledge and passion into each home crafted by Green Mountain Builders.
Founded 20 years ago, GMB is committed to incorporating the concepts of Green Building with projects that lessen the impact on the environment, create energy-efficient buildings, and produce homes and businesses that are healthy to live and work in.
Steve and his team of craftsmen are devoted to personally overseeing all aspects of construction. Our home building process is threefold, simple and detailed:
Pre Construction Planning, Construction, and Post Construction.
Uncommon to other builders, constant communication with the home owner is the common thread weaving throughout each step.
Phase 01
Always beginning with in-depth meetings and conversations with home owners, the pre construction process will give us an understanding of our clients wants, needs, and vision. Green Mountain Builders will form an understanding of the project, evaluating soil and site conditions, check existing utilities, search for green building options, create and communicate a strategy and schedule - guiding the client through every step. The owner will gain a full understanding of the cost, scope, potential issues and schedule of the project.
Phase 02
Like any major life event, building a home is a journey. Green Mountain Builders will communicate with you through each development. Each home and project is a different adventure, but below is a basic outline of the home building process.
Phase 03
After your home is complete, we'll do a final “walk through” with you in your new home. In addition to inspecting it and making a “punch list” of things you want us to refine, Green Mountain Builders will assist in getting to know your new appliances and security systems.
It has been about 3 months since we moved into our newly renovated cottage and we could not be happier! … From day one, you helped us with the logistics, planning and extensive renovations to bring our vision to life.
